Junior Backend Software Engineer

We specialize in digital-first 360° marketing with tech, including brand strategy, digital content creation, media buying, data analytics, website development, and enterprise software development.

Analyzen Bangladesh Ltd. is looking for a Junior Backend Software Engineer to join the team that builds and maintains our production web platforms: content-managed websites, admin panels, REST APIs, and web portals for clients in healthcare, telecom and media, consumer brands, and digital messaging. Most of our backend work is in PHP/Laravel with MySQL, alongside a smaller set of Node.js services. Working with guidance from senior developers, you will build features, fix bugs, and help keep live applications running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain backend features in Laravel-based applications, including CMS-driven websites and admin panels.
• Build and update REST API endpoints used by frontend applications (Next.js, React) and other internal services.
• Write and improve MySQL queries, migrations, and Eloquent models for new and existing features.
• Investigate and fix bugs reported in live applications, with support from senior developers.
• Be reachable occasionally, to help with urgent issues on live client projects, including outside regular office hours when the situation genuinely requires it.
• Update Blade templates and server-side PHP views when backend changes affect page output.
• Work with frontend developers to agree on API request and response formats and to resolve integration issues.
• Support the integration of backend APIs with React and Next.js frontends, and help debug issues that span both sides.
• Follow the team's coding standards, Git branching workflow, and code review process.
• Test your changes locally and on staging before release, and document what you changed.
• Use AI coding assistants to speed up coding, debugging, testing, and documentation, and review every AI-generated change before committing it.
• Learn the internal tools used across our projects, including a Laravel-based CMS and project-specific deployment conventions.

Key Requirements:

• 1–2 years of professional experience in backend or web application development.
• Hands-on experience with PHP and Laravel in real, deployed projects.
• Hands-on experience integrating backend APIs with React-based frontends.
• Experience working in a team on an existing codebase, using Git and a code review process.
• Fresh graduates are not the primary target for this role. Exceptional candidates with strong, demonstrable Laravel project work may be considered.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Candidates without a related degree but with equivalent, proven professional experience are encouraged to apply.
• Clear written and verbal communication in English and Bangla.
• Asks questions early when blocked and responds positively to code review feedback.
• Takes care when working on live production systems: tests before release and follows agreed deployment steps.
• Manages assigned tasks reliably and reports progress and problems honestly.
• Willing to learn new frameworks and tools as project needs change.

Required Technical Skills:

• PHP: Solid knowledge of core PHP, including object-oriented programming, error handling, and working with code outside a framework.
• Laravel: Practical experience with routing, controllers, Eloquent ORM, migrations, middleware, and request validation.
• MySQL: Comfortable writing joins, aggregations, and filtered queries, with an understanding of indexes and relational schema basics.
• REST APIs: Experience building or consuming RESTful APIs, including JSON, HTTP methods, status codes, and testing with Postman or a similar tool.
• Blade and HTML: Working knowledge of Blade templating and basic HTML to make server-side view changes.
• React integration: Practical experience connecting backend APIs to React frontends, with working knowledge of React components, state, hooks, and data fetching so you can trace integration issues.
• Authentication and access: Understanding of login flows, sessions or tokens, and user roles and permissions.
• Git: Strong everyday Git skills, including branching, clear commits, pull requests, merging and rebasing, resolving merge conflicts, and working in GitHub or GitLab workflows.
• Debugging: Ability to trace issues in an existing codebase using logs, Laravel debugging tools, and browser developer tools.
• AI-assisted development: Proficient in using AI coding tools (such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT), with good prompt engineering skills and hands-on use of agentic coding workflows. You understand AI output and can check its accuracy, security, and fit with our codebase.

Preferred Skills:

• Exposure to Node.js with NestJS or Express, or server-side JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with PostgreSQL.
• Experience with a PHP-based CMS or a Laravel admin panel/CRUD generator.
• Basic knowledge of Docker, Apache or Nginx, and the Linux command line.
• Familiarity with Next.js, which several of our frontends use.
• Awareness of common web security risks (SQL injection, XSS, CSRF) and how Laravel helps prevent them.

Who Should Apply:

• You have 1–2 years of professional Laravel experience and want to grow by working on real production projects.
• You enjoy debugging and understanding how existing code works, not only writing new code.
• You are comfortable working with MySQL and APIs every day, and you are interested in learning Node.js.
• You already use AI coding tools in your daily work and know how to get reliable results from them.
• You want a backend role. React knowledge is needed for integration work, while UI development stays with our frontend team.
